Soapbox Science Sydney is a free, interactive, public event showcasing the cutting edge Australian research carried out by aspiring and established female researchers in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Medicine disciplines.

Picture the iconic backdrop of Circular Quay and 12 enthusiastic women researchers standing on soapboxes wearing lab coats! With Soapbox Science, we want to make sure that everyone can enjoy, learn from, heckle, question, probe, interact with and be inspired by some of our leading researchers.

No PowerPoint slides, no amphitheatre, just remarkable women doing research who are there to amaze you with their latest discoveries, and to answer the questions you have been burning to ask. Or simply hear them talk about what fascinates them, and why they have the most fantastic job in the world!

Soapbox Science Sydney engages all facets of society in STEMM – especially those who wouldn’t otherwise come across science in their daily lives – and to promote a public dialogue around important scientific issues. Soapbox Science Sydney also promotes women in STEMM and inspires younger generations to engage with STEMM subjects and explore them as career options.
